5 Steps To Cheap Car Insurance Premiums
Car insurance is compulsory, but it’s not necessary to pay more than you have to. A few simple steps combined with some time surfing for competitive car insurance rates really can save you serious money at renewal time.
Step 1 – Cut the Risk and Cut the Cost
The easiest way to cut your car insurance premiums is to cut the risk and accept a higher voluntary excess. An insurer’s standard excess may be £100 but if you meet the first £250 of any claim, you’ll see a reduction in your premium. This is because you’re taking on more of the risk so you get a discount. But it’s a gamble, be aware that you might have to meet the cost of a broken window after an attempted theft or a bill for repairing bodywork damage after a car park crunch.
Step 2 – Security Means Savings
Fitting security devices can also result in cheap car insurance premiums. All major insurers insist on Thatcham rated security equipment, usually a minimum of an alarm. If you live in a high-risk area for car crime, it makes sense to fit extra security. It saves you money when your insurance renewal is due and gives you extra peace of mind.
Step 3 – Annual Mileage, Less Means More in Your Pocket
If your annual mileage is, 5,000 miles or less, ask insurers if they offer discounts for agreed mileage restrictions.
Step 4 – Named Drivers Trick
Adding a named driver to your policy can increase or reduce your premiums depending upon the named drivers age, sex and driving record. Adding a young driver will increase your premiums, particularly with a limited or poor driving record. However, adding a driver over 30 years old with a long and clean driving record can cut premiums, particularly if the named driver is female!
Step 5 – Shop Around and Save Even More
The biggest car insurance savings come from shopping around. There can be massive differences between the lowest and highest car insurance quotes for exactly the same car and driver(s). Start off using good comparitive online quotation sites, take their best quotes and go direct to the cheapest car insurance company for more specific quotes.
So next time your renewal quote arrives, don’t just accept it and give your money away to the insurance company. Use the steps above and get the right cover at the right price.
Car Insurance Finding Tips
Anybody who drives a car needs car insurance. Not only is it against the law to drive without proper insurance but it will also protect you in the event of a car accident, theft, or damage to your car. With the rising costs of insurance these days however, it seems that everybody is looking for a way to reduce their payments while still staying covered. For this reason, there are a few things to keep in mind when choosing car insurance and there are several things that can be done to reduce the costs of insurance.
The first thing to do is look at the excess that is being charged with any policy. This is the amount that you are responsible for when making a claim. The cost of the insurance policy will be directly connected to the excess amount. Many people, who have car insurance, especially if they have had the same policy for a long time, do not ever think to reconsider their excess. When getting quotes, they could get them lower if they have a good driving record and are willing to make larger payments should something happen.
Another way to cut the costs begins when you are first buying the car. This is because many makes and models of cars, such as sports cars, cost more to insure than others. Other types of cars that can be costly to insure are those that have a high theft rate. Be sure to do some research on different models of cars when buying and see what the insurance on these kinds of cars will be.
Driving carefully and safely is one of the biggest ways to save on car insurance. It may sound like common sense but a good driving record will be a great benefit when getting online or offline quotes. This is because the cost of the policy is determined according to how high a risk the driver getting insured is. Many companies also offer safe driver discounts, giving money back or discounts to those drivers that do not get many speeding tickets or get into accidents often.
Installing safety and anti-theft devices can also make a huge difference on your premium. By having these devices fitted on your car, it reduces the risk that they will be stolen. Again, the insurance company takes into consideration the risk of insuring the person and the car so when you lower the risk, the cost of the policy will also be lowered. If you get these devices after you have your car policy, be sure to let your insurer know that you have installed them and ask if they can change your policy accordingly.
Before renewing any policy, be sure to get different quotes. Car insurance rates are always fluctuating and you or your car may have made changes since getting the car insurance initially that will affect the policy. Going online can be a great way to get several different quotes quickly from different insurance companies. These quotes will give you a better idea of what to expect from your policy.
Satellite Direct TV System
Satellite television is television delivered by the means of communications satellite and received by a satellite dish and set-top box.
There are three primary types of satellite television usage:
- reception direct by the viewer,
- reception by local television affiliates, or
- Reception by head ends for distribution across terrestrial cable systems.
Satellite TV providers get programming from two major sources: International turnaround channels (such as HBO, ESPN and CNN, STAR TV, SET, B4U etc) and various local channels (SaBe TV, Sahara TV, Doordarshan, etc).
Currently, there are two primary satellite television providers of subscription based service available to consumers: Dish Network and DirecTV.
USSB was a direct-to-home service founded in 1981. In the early 1990s they partnered with Hughes and continued operation until purchased in 1998 by Direct TV
The receiver processes the signal and passes it on to a standard television. These are the steps in greater detail: programming, broadcasting centers, encryption and transmission, the dish, and the receiver.
The Satellite DirecTV system became the new delivery vehicle for USSB. News Corporation currently holds a 38% stake, which it is in the process of selling to Liberty Media. In 1996, EchoStar’s Dish Network went online in the United States and has gone on to similar success as DirecTV’s primary competitor.
